Starfish Program

Class dates: June 28 – August 6
Monday – Friday | 9 am – 3:30 pm
Eligibility: Ages 5 to 7
The Starfish class is an introductory approach to the world of sailing covering boat parts, knot tying, wind direction, safety and other water related activities. The class will sail daily on a Lido 14 or various other boats, as well as arts and crafts, story time, and other fun engaging sailing related activities.
Requirements: Sailor must have a United States Coast Guard (U.S.C.G.) approved life jacket for their use.
Sabot - Novice Begining Sailing

Class dates: June 28 – August 6
Monday – Friday | 9 am – 3:30 pm
Eligibility: Ages 7 to 11
The Novice class is an all-embracing fun-filled class designed for first time sailors. This class introduces sailor rigging, boat parts, knots, and wind direction. The focus of this class is to teach kids how to learn, love and operate their Naples Sabot solo. The program also includes 45 minutes of swim lessons with our certified swimming instructor daily.
Requirements: Sailors must be able to complete and pass a swimming test, have a Naples Sabot and have a United States Coast Guard (U.S.C.G.) approved life jacket for their use.
Sabot - Advanced Novice Sailing

Class dates: June 28 – August 6
Monday – Friday | 9 am – 3:30 pm
Eligibility: Ages 8 to 11
The Advanced Beginner class is designed for sailors who have successfully completed a full summer of Novice sailing at BCYC but not yet ready for the C3 racing. Sailors will continue to enjoy the sport of sailing and build confidence toward their racing years ahead. The program also includes 45 minutes of swim lessons with our certified swimming instructor daily.
Requirements: Sailors must be able to complete and pass a swimming test, have a Naples Sabot and have a United States Coast Guard (U.S.C.G.) approved life jacket for their use.
Sabot - C Racing (Intermediate)

Class dates: June 28 – August 6
Monday – Friday | 9:30 am – 4 pm
Eligibility: Ages 8 to 17
The C Racing class will be divided up into classes according to their ability. This will be a skill building class, as we cover race tactics, sail trim, boat handling, and a better understanding of the Racing Rules of Sailing. Sailors will compete weekly in the Balboa Bay Fleet Races on Tuesdays and Thursday as well as weekend regatta and participate in the Sabot National Championship at Mission Bay Yacht Club. C3 and C2 sailor upon Director’s approval.
Requirements: Sailors must be able to complete and pass a swimming test, have a Naples Sabot and have a United States Coast Guard (U.S.C.G.) approved life jacket for their use. Parents are required to pull a trailer to travel regattas.
Sabot - Nationals Program (A & B) (Advanced)

Class dates: June 28 – August 12
Monday – Friday | 10:30 am – 4:30 pm
Eligibility: Ages 8 to 17
The A & B Racing class is designed to introduce and reinforce the fundamentals of top level Sabot racing. Topics cover: boat speed, sail controls, theory, strategy, tactics and a comprehensive approach to a better understanding of the Racing Rules of Sailing. Sailors will compete weekly in the Balboa Bay Fleet Races on Tuesdays and Thursday as well as weekend regatta and participate in the Sabot National Championship at Mission Bay Yacht Club.
Requirements: Sailors must be able to complete and pass a swimming test, have a Naples Sabot and have a United States Coast Guard (U.S.C.G.) approved life jacket for their use. Parents are required to pull a trailer to travel regattas.
CFJ Racing

Class dates: June 28 – August 6
Monday – Friday | 11 am – 5 pm
Eligibility: Ages 13 to 17 and Director Approval
The CFJ class is designed for top Sabot racer making the transition to other boats. Sailors will work on rigging, boat set up, boat handling and racing tactics. Sailors will compete weekly in the Balboa Bay Fleet Races on Tuesdays and Thursday as well as weekend regattas and participate in Jr. Olympics and CFJ Nationals.
Requirements: Sailors must be able to complete and pass a swimming test, have a three or more years of racing experience, have access to a CFJ, or charter a CFJ from BCYC. All sailors must have a United States Coast Guard (U.S.C.G.) approved life jacket for their use. Parents are required to pull a trailer to travel regattas.
