Jess Gerry, Sailing Director

Jess was born and raised in Hudson, Ohio spending all his summer weekends racing Lasers, Thistles and Highlanders all over the Midwest. Over the winter months Jess enjoyed skiing with his friends and family at the local ski resorts Boston Mills and Brandywine. After High School he attended the University of Northern Colorado, graduating in 2003 with a degree in Advertising and Marketing. During his summers away from college Jess achieved his sailing credentials teaching at various Yacht Clubs throughout the Midwest. One of which was the Indianapolis Sailing Club where he was Program Director from 2002 – 2004. Upon graduation from college Jess followed his love for teaching and became a certified Ski and Snowboard instructor at Winter Park in Colorado. After two years of the mountain lifestyle Jess pursued a lifelong dream of making a career teaching the sport of sailing, landing at Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club. When not coaching or racing sailboats, he still enjoys skiing, snowboarding, surfing, lacrosse and the outdoors. Jess’ vision is simple “to give to these kids what my parents gave to me, a chance to experience and respect the sport of sailing for a lifetime”.
